Class Description
Hatha Yoga
Hatha Yoga is a comprehensive blend of Yoga that recognises the interconnectedness of the entire being. Every element within the practice is designed to affect multiple systems. Asana is used, not only to dispel physical tension but also emotional blockages while improving energetic circulation. Pranayama or breathing practices are used to down-regulate nervous system, soften deeper physical tension, balance the mind and energise the being.
When the 2 elements of Asana and Pranayama are combined with meditative awareness and Yogic philosophy, each session becomes so much more than a practice of mind and body but form a pathway, instead, toward skillful and harmonious living.
Mindfulness
The objective of this hour long, mindfulness based session is to build a community around meditation and for the community to help raise the vibration, in turn, deepening everyone's practice. Different concepts will be shared at the start of these sessions to provide an intellectual anchor of sorts but the primary focus is on the practice itself - having more time in stillness and silence. Numerous seated or lying positions will be available for maximum comfort during the 45 to 50 mins of meditation. The remaining time will be dedicated to resolving questions and obstacles that may have surfaced during the session or in home practice.
Softening into Stillness
It can be quite hard to drop into a meditative space when the body still carries the momentum of the day/week. The half stretch, half meditation class format seeks to address that need by moving through gentle postures first in a very slow and methodical manner to shed some of that haste and tension, thereby creating a softer inner atmosphere that is more conducive to meditation.
Different meditative practices will then be utilised with numerous meditative concepts introduced to help find the key that unlocks the depth and benefits of meditation for each individual at their respective levels of experience and/or life situation.

“Han is one of those teachers that helps you just get ‘it’ about mindfulness and Hatha yoga. Highly recommend!”
